Haiti » Tom going to Haiti

It seems impossible to believe that it has been over six months since the
earthquake devastated Haiti. When we created our first blog and sent it out
to everyone in our address book, we could not have imagined the reach it
would have. The blog went viral on the internet within days of our first
posting from the Haitian earthquake and raised in excess of $100,000.

I can assure you that every penny was put to immediate use saving lives.
We used the funds you sent by feeding and housing some 400 patients and
about 3000 of their family members. We just assume that everyone received a
thank you from either ima.org or Medshare. Carol and I can never adequately
thank all of those who gave so generously after receiving only a single
e-mail from us, and to those of you who followed our blog. Thank you again
from the very bottom of our hearts.

Carol and I have been hard at work fund raising and trying to keep the
Haitian people from being yesterday's big news story. The June entry at
www.carolandtominhaiti.com has a summary of our activities since our return
from Haiti on January 25th.

Carol, my son Eric and I return to Haiti after much delay on July 13th.
We will be trying to pick upon the work we started before the
earthquake. Carol will be doing GYN surgery and training local doctors
and medical students to do it in her absence. I will be working with the
Haitian dental school in Port au Prince that struggles to stay afloat
long enough to train the next generation of Haitian dentists. We will be
visiting with Nadia and her family, bringing much needed vaccines for
her son Gaetan Thomas.


We will be working with Dale and Dorothy from International Medical Alliance
(imaonline.org), a great organization that can always use your support.Eric , Carol and I will be posting pictures and narrative from Haiti to the
blog.
