A Newcodent MDU7-24 V portable dental unit has been successfully delivered to Nepal to help with charity work.

The Newcodent MDU7-24 V portable dental unit was successfully delivered and used in Nepal to help Dr Willem de Lint and Dr Gerco Van Beelen with their charity work.

The MDU7-24 V dental unit was chosen thanks to its ease of transport, each box is only 7.5kg, and the low power consumption, only using 380 watts of electricity when in operation.

Explaining the history behind the MDU7-24 V, Siggi Jokumsen, managing director of Newcodent Ltd, said: ‘MDU7-24 V was initially designed for UK domiciliary work.

‘However, we have found that UK dentists working with patients under general anesthetic in hospitals have to bring their own dental unit with them as there is very little or no dental equipment in hospitals.

‘Many private dentists have purchased our unit for home visits and as a stand by unit in case of problems with their own equipment.

After using them in Nepal for charity work, Dr Willem de Lint said: ‘The units did exactly what Siggi had promised, set up and ready in 15 minutes, we worked flat out for the whole of our trip.

‘This is a great asset as a stand by unit in any dental clinic.’

Siggi went on to say how the work Dr Willem de Lint undertook in Nepal has opened new avenues for Newcodent: ‘The project in Nepal has opened doors into charitable dental work and we are now working with UK dentists who are planning to go to Burma as well as a German dental professor who is in charge of the Land Rover charitable dental service in Tanzania.’
