Originating in Virginia and spreading throughout the United States, Mission of Mercy dental programs have provided 100,000 patients with nearly $50 million in free dental services and treatment since 2000.

The Nebraska MOM program provides care to the uninsured, the under-insured and anyone who otherwise has difficulty getting to a dentist. Those who show up for care, children and adults, and don't have any medically compromising condition that would prohibit them from receiving care are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.

In Nebraska, a successful MOM event focuses on:
· Providing free access to critical dental care while placing a high priority on
patients suffering from dental infections or pain.
· Providing basic dental education and awareness to patients.

Patient education:
An important element of the Nebraska MOM program is patient education. Education is the most cost-effective way to reduce oral disease among the low-income population, including MA patients. A program to help patients understand the importance of good daily oral hygiene practices, healthy diet and routine preventive dental care is an essential part of every NDA MOM event.

In addition to receiving needed dental treatment, MOM patients learn the importance of good daily oral hygiene practices, healthy diet and routine preventive dental care. It's a fact that such things ultimately save money and time in the dentist office.

They learn about the negative effects of soda, sugary beverages and tobacco products, the link between dental health and overall health, oral cancer and more.

How you can help
Financial contributions
For each NDA Mission of Mercy event, funds are needed to help cover dental equipment and facility rental, supplies, pharmaceuticals and food costs. For every $1 in hard-dollar donations we receive, NDA dentists and other MOM volunteers are able to provide $5 - $7 of care.

America's Dentists Care Foundation
The America's Dentists Care Foundation Missions of Mercy (ADCF MOM) organization believes that individual states are positioned to provide appropriate solutions to the oral health needs of its residents.
· ADCF MOM envisions that each state coordinates one or more Mission of Mercy (MOM) events annually to
demonstrate and satisfy not only that stat's unmet oral health needs, but also exemplify the dedication of that
state's dental professionals to be part of the MOM process.
· We believe that through service and education, oral health disease in the underserved can be better addressed
as a preventable disease where prevention may also reduce future dental and medical expenses.
· ADCF MOM believes we can work together to create a network of concerned individuals and states willing to
provide this free dental care to the underserved and to that end, ADCF MOM stands as the catalyst toward that
effort.
