International seminar on primary health care workforce planning
2-5 June 2009, Brasilia, Brazil

The goal of the event was to facilitate exchange of experiences in planning for health workforce development to meet population health needs. Participants were national delegations from various countries in the Americas and Africa (including Brazil, Canada, Jamaica, Peru, Angola, Mozambique and others) as well as from PAHO, WHO, the Global Health Workforce Alliance and several state, provincial and local authorities.

The seminar is part of an international consortium that is developing new methodologies for human resources planning. It was led by the WHO Collaborating Centre in Health Workforce Planning and Research at Dalhousie University (Canada), the Ministries of Health of Brazil and Jamaica, and coordinated by the regions of Ceara and Minas Gerais in Brazil, and the South East Regional Authority of Jamaica.
