Global Dental Relief » Asia: Vietnam

Our work in this stunning Asian country began in 2004 in partnership with the East Meets West Foundation. We begin our Vietnam experience in the southern city of Saigon where we spend two days acclimating and enjoying the sites offered by this thriving city. We continue north to Danang and on to the beautiful seaside town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and our base during the clinic.

Working alongside their Vietnamese counterparts in field clinics set up in village schools in the central part of Vietnam, volunteers are completely immersed in local culture. Almost no one speaks English. Mothers and fathers stand outside the clinic, eagerly waiting for their children to be seen by the dentists. Lunch for the volunteers is prepared by the villagers – typical Vietnamese food – always followed by whatever fruit is in season..

An optional tour of this stunning country follows each clinic, including a cultural exploration north to Hue, Hanoi and Halong Bay.
