FDI’s new Oral Health Observatory application will be ready for its official launch early in the New Year. The app is designed to assess the state of oral health of patients as reported by their dentist and by the patients themselves. Pilot projects are planned in Germany, Mexico and the Netherlands.

Readers will recall that the application is designed for use on Android-based tablet computers, which will be distributed to participating dentists. Current app languages are Dutch, German and Spanish. Data retrieved will be introduced into a dedicated application specially created for FDI.

Dentists’ training is planned for January, and data collection should be terminated by end February.
