The Ecuadent team succeeded in their back-to-back medical and dental mission trips to Esmeraldas, Ecuador from February 20th until March 8th.
The medical team performed 66 procedures on 55 patients. The procedures included: 9 cleft lip corrections, 7 cleft palate corrections, 6 digit corrections, 8 scar revisions, 21 hernia removals, 14 excisions of mass/tissue, and 1 frenectomy.The team also created a custom prosthetic hand for a child born without a hand.
The dental team performed 2,350 procedures on 518 patients. The procedures were as follows: 982 sealants, 449 fluoride treatments, 438 cleanings, 349 restorations, 120 extractions, 9 appliances, and 3 frenectomies.
Additionally, the team donated clothing, toys, and school supplies to the Loreto Orphanage for children physically or sexually abused. We set up 6 new computers in the orphanage computer lab. All of the computers are equipped with high quality educational software.
