Attend this 1.5 day interactive symposium at the 2010
American Dental Association Annual Session in Orlando
that is designed to support the success of domestic and
international oral health care volunteers. An overview
of global oral health problems, creating sustainable
development projects that fulfill needs, understanding
cross-cultural communications in diverse communities, and
realizing the impact of health promotion are topics that will
be covered with input from the participants.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify the skills and long-term goals necessary for a
successful volunteer program
2. Integrate locally specific approaches both in the U.S. and abroad
3. Network to expand and disseminate the rewards of
volunteerism
Attendance is limited to 50 participants. This course will include a
Thursday evening reception. Breakfast will be provided on Friday,
as well as a networking roundtable lunch with volunteers from
existing volunteer programs.
